Sandblasting is a process that uses the impact of high-speed sand flow to clean and roughen the surface of the substrate. Compressed air is used as power to form a high-speed jet beam to spray the spray material (copper ore, quartz sand, emery, iron sand, and Hainan sand) at high speed onto the surface of the workpiece that needs to be processed so that the appearance or shape of the outer surface of the workpiece surface changes. Due to the impact and cutting effect of abrasives on the surface of the workpiece, the surface of the workpiece obtains a certain degree of cleanliness and different roughness, which improves the mechanical properties of the surface of the workpiece, thereby improving the fatigue resistance of the workpiece and increasing its interaction with the coating. The adhesion between layers extends the durability of the paint film and also facilitates paint leveling and decoration.
Sandblasting applications:
(1) Workpiece coating
Sandblasting before workpiece bonding can remove rust and other contaminants on the surface of the workpiece and establish a very important basic pattern on the surface of the workpiece (the so-called matte surface), and it can also be used by changing abrasives of different particle sizes. For example, the abrasives of Feizhan abrasive tools can reach different degrees of roughness, which greatly improves the bonding force between the workpiece and coatings and plating materials. Or make the bonding parts stronger and of better quality.
(2) Rough surface of casting parts
Cleaning and polishing of workpieces after heat treatment. Sandblasting can clean all contaminants (such as oxide scale, oil stains, and other residues) on the surface of cast and forged parts and heat-treated workpieces, polish the surface of the workpiece to improve the smoothness of the workpiece, and expose the workpiece to a uniform texture. The natural color of the metal makes the appearance of the workpiece more beautiful.
(3) Burr cleaning and surface beautification of machined parts
Sandblasting can clean the tiny burrs on the surface of the workpiece and make the surface of the workpiece smoother, eliminating the hazards of burrs and improving the quality of the workpiece. Sandblasting can create very small fillets at the interface between the workpiece surfaces, making the workpiece appear more beautiful and precise.
(4) Improve the mechanical properties of parts
After mechanical parts are sandblasted, uniform, and fine, uneven surfaces can be produced on the surface of the parts to store lubricating oil, thereby improving lubrication conditions, reducing noise, and increasing the service life of the machinery.
(5) The effect of light decoration on some special-purpose workpieces
Sandblasting can be used to achieve different reflections or mattes at will. Such as polishing stainless steel workpieces and plastics, polishing jade, matting the surface of wooden furniture, patterning on the surface of frosted glass, and texturing on the surface of fabrics, etc.
