SLM-3D printing mold industry application

Selective laser melting (SLM) technology is one of the important technologies in the field of metal AM. It uses a high-energy-density laser as a heat source. The laser spot is concentrated in the range of 20 to 100 μm, and spherical melting particles with a diameter between 5 and 50 μm are selected. Metal powder can produce complex metal components with a high degree of freedom, producing nearly 100% high-density parts with surface roughness up to 20~30 μm and dimensional accuracy up to 20~50 μm.

The application of SLM technology in the mold industry mainly includes forming stamping dies, forging dies, casting dies, extrusion dies, wire drawing dies powder metallurgy dies, etc.
SLM process application scope
1) Process the appearance, assembly, and functional prototypes of standard metals.

2) Support parts, such as clamps, fixtures, etc.

3) Small batch parts production.

4) Injection mold.
